#55 & #57 Off the List

I have been meaning to write about this for a LONG TIME now.  I am happy to say that I can mark off two pretty big items off my Zero Day List.  As of April 19th, Renee and I purchased a house, our very first house!  It is a lovely little 3 bedroom, 1 bath Cape Code right outside of the beltway in Beacon Hill.  That means I am able to make off one HUGE item from the list, #55, buy a house!  I was also able to mark off # 57, buy a new bed!

Renee and I have done some major work on the house to make it our home, but there is still a bunch of things that we want to do.  As of right now, the house is very livable and we love it, especially the back yard! I plan on writing more about it in the near future, but here is a photo from the day we closed on the house.

#50 of the 101 list… DONE!

I am proud to say that I have completed yet another item off of my 101 list before the end of 2009 and I couldn’t be more excited!  I graduated from college in 2001, so almost 9 years ago.  I setup my payment plan to last ten years after I graduated… I payed it off 1 year and 6 months early!

So finally, after all of this time, I can say that I truly own my college education and not some bank!  Now on to the next item on the 101 list.. paying off the car!

2010-01-05-1

Today starts another attempt to finish something on my 101 list, the 365 days of Justin. While I am just a little behind on starting, it is always better to start late then never start at all right?  So here is the first day!

Smashing Magazines Design Daily

Smashing Magazine out out a great article yesterday about Designing Something Every Day. When I first saw this, it made me think of my 101 list and how bad I have been about keeping up with it. I still have over 500 days left on it meaning I am almost half way through it.  But honestly, what have I completed from it… Not much!

Although, I have completed some pretty important things off the list and some other pretty important ones are on the way to being completed. I think this article from Smashing Magazine is a great revitalization of the list.  Now, off to schedule 15-20 minutes a day in the calendar!

Another Thing Off The List

#86-get_marriedI know it has been a while since I have mentioned my 101 list, but I am proud to say that I can update the list today!

As most people know, I got married last friday to Renee Rybak.  While this item on my list was an “easy” one, it does mean that I am one step closer to finishing the list.  As of today, I have 655 days to complete other things on the list.  While it have not been on the front of my mind, it has still be present and I hae some plans to knock some more things off!

BTW: Getting married just happen to fall at #86, the numbers have no bearing on when they get completed or any priority.

Just Got Word…MORE WORK!

I just got word from the boss man, we are going to be putting together a new marketing piece for the office. And the best part is, I have total design control. And to top it off, I am going to be able to mark off one of my 101 list items because of it.

We are going to be using lulu.com to print out materials as we need.  Lulu is a print on demand kind of thing.  You can also market peices to be sold around the world!  While I don’t think this will happen with this piece, it will be  learning expience with Lulu to get other things made!

When the job is complete, I’ll make sure to post the artwork.

eBay: BUY MY STUFF!!1

I completely forgot to blog about this. This past weekend while I was clearing out things that I don’t need…

Yes, this is part of my 101 list of things to do.

I put up my Radio Remote Focus Unit from ETC for the Express line of consoles.  While this is only really interesting to just a couple of people, take a look AND BID!!!! I want more more of this thing!  The retail on this thing was over $1000!!!

But on the other hand, if it gets a good loving home and a decent price, who am I to complain?

Check out the listing on eBay here.  At the time of this posting, there are 2 days left!!!

Let's Clearify the 101 list….

I received some flak last night about my 101 list.

“You haven’t been to the gym three times this week, you owe $25.”

Let’s get this straight…  While I do want to do that particular list item.  It does not mean that I have to go to the gym 3 days a week for the whole 1001 days.  I need to build UP TO it.  While it has been a rocky start, other list items are moving along as well.  Just know that things are in montion!

UPDATED: As of this morning, my list is complete!

Man, Talk about out of SHAPE!

I just did a sales call up on the hill at 400 n cap…  I normally park at Uniion Station and then walk to my sales call up on the hill.  Well, 400 n cap is about 3 blocks away from Union Station.  Today it is about 80+ degrees and HUMID!  This morning I took my time, no rush, I had plenty of time to get there… Well, by the time I got to security to check in, I had started to sweat, not bad, but I definatly had a bead or two running down.  Nothing nasty or anything, but enough to make me mad at myself.

Well, after to sales call it was another 3 blocks back to Union Station to get the car… By the time I got to the car, I had sweated just enough to really make me mad!  I had to pump up the AC to cool off and get it under control.

This just proves my point that I know I am out of shape and need to do something about it.  So of course it is part of my 101 in 1001 list to do something about it.  I think this just means I might have to start this part of my list EARLY!

The Weding Countdown

Part of my 101 in 1001 list is to design a widget once a month for a year. Right now I am playing around with dashcode from Apple and their templates. The second widget that I designed is a simple count down to Renee and I wedding next August in Upstate NY. Nothing big or fancy right now. I am just getting the hang of it and seeing how things work. In the coming months I hope to get fancier and fancier!
