Lets begin the countdown until VACATION andthe 4th of July!!! Only 3 days left until I am OUT OF HERE!!!  We are heading down to SML or Smith Mountain Lake for you that do not know.  We are going to be spending a nice long weekend relaxing, drinking, soaking, and working on the tans.  Then of course there is the “private” fireworks on the lake that Tom puts on.  You know what I might attempt while down there… So smokin of a pig!!  They have a smokeer, why not take advantage of it?  Just another hobby I want to include into my repeitar!

As most people know, I watch ALOT of TV.  And it just happens that I have Comcast for cable.  Since I am cheap, I only get basic cable, no HD, paid channels, digital or any crap like that.  So lately I have seen this new commercial from comcast.  It is marketing one of their newest services, Proposal Man at proposalman.com.

First, the quality of the commercial SUCKS, I could do better then this fucking commercial and I have no experience!  Then the concept SUCKS.. A guy proposing with a plate of peas that spells will you marry me… WTF!!!  If some one told me that is how they proposed, that would be grounds for an immediate ass kicking, just so you know.

I have taken another HUGE step.  I have upgraded the 15PB to Leopard!  I little birdy yesterday dropped in my lap.  Normally when a brid drops something on me, I curse and make a stink about it, but not this time!  “A Friend” (figure out that movie reference!) let me barrow a CD yesterday that just happen to have some goodness on it.  At the end of the day I was running OSX Leopard, WHO KNEW THAT WOULD BE ON IT!  Anyways, first impressions… I LIKE IT. Hate the default background, but that is eaily changed as you can see in the phot left.

Interesting side note on the background shipped with Leopard.  Renee was watching me as I was change the background and made an interesting comment.  “Who, what a set of Vistas”, referenceing some of the “nature” shots in the default folder for Mac backgrounds.  Me thinks this be Apple’s trickery hinting at their compitions OS from Redmond!  Just something to think about.

Now, something else I am having a little trouble with is the grid and icon line up on the desktop.  I HATE SNAPPING TO GRID!!!  How do I turn this off?!?!?!  I like my desktop icons to be where I want them NOT all to the right.  Someone PLESASE help.

Next, the dock.  I remember reading about people not likeing the new dock and stuff like that when Leopard first came out, but I didn’t pay much attention to them.  Now I see what some people are talking about. It is a little difficult to see what programs are open, but have now windows open.  The is just a small glowing blue bubble under the icon in the dock, very hard to see at a glance.  I much prefered Tigers little black arrow, very easy to see at a glance!

So far, overall I am liking it.  Most of the things I am bitching about are easy to fix, I just haven’t figured out how to on some of them.  I’ll let you know what other things come up laters.

If you like a good browser experience, I would highly recommend downloading the latest version of FireFox.  I first downloaded it my PC (WORK PC!) and have really liked it.  Just today I finially got around to downloading it for my mac.  First thoughts… It visually looks similar to Safri meaning the brushed aluminum look.  Don’t get me wrong, i like it, but now it’s going to take me a moment to realize which browser I am actually in.  But if that is the biggest problem, then AWESOME.  I’ll let you know what I think after playing with it more.

I was watching some TV, (like normal after work) waiting for the simpsons to come one when a Canon Camera Commercial came on. It was one of my favorite of the three made. It was the one with the pom pom posing for the camera and talking back to Maria Sherapova. It got me all excited, in less then a week, I get to see my favorite crazy Pom Pom Lexie!!!!!! I will make sure to get some photos and posiably a video or two to show off why I love her. make sure to check out the commercial on YouTube.

What is this? Starbucks is going to be getting out of the music business????  No longer are they going to be selling Cd’s or iTunes gift cards at any of their retail locations.  It turns out they are actually losing money trying to compete with digital music distributors such as iTunes and other online music outlets.  What did they expect???  Awhile ago, I thought that they were going to quite doing things like selling sandwiches and other crap like that so they can get back to their roots, selling coffee.  They need to focus on the coffee. maybe resreaching ways to make their $4 drinks CHEAPER!!!!

An interesting write up on what a web design shall and shall not due.  I took a quick look at it here.  I’ll have to look at it more closely tonight when time allows.

I was popin around some of my favorite blogs and found this on daringfireball.net.  It’s an article on Davenetics blog about doing what your good at.  It’s mainly about What Yahoo needs to do in order to bet Google or at least compet with Google.  Read the full entry here.

Well the title and article got me thinking.  What am I good at and what do I need to do that?  Well, as some people know, my interest vary, but just something for me to think about.  I can think of some people that might read this that can use this title to think about it for themselves.

As I was driving into work this morning, I heard on WTOP that Virginia is going to make a stiffer penalty for underage kids that have a blood alcohol level of .02 or higher to lose their drivers license for one year automatically.  .02 BAL is about the equivalent of 1 drink.  One DRINK!  I can see the argument on either side, .02 is nothing. But why not any traces of alcohol and make it illigeal.  First of all, underage drinking is illegal on a national level.  so with a BAL of .02, the kid has had something with alchol in it, thus he is “drunk” or has had a drink.  So why not make it .01 or higher?

The other side could be that the kid took something with alcohol in it that is leagal, such as medican or something along those lines.  No that one is a tough one that I am not going to even TOUCH!  Just know it out there.

Anyways, my flip side of the story is that I was reading an article out of time magazine this morning waiting for the coffee to start up about Steve Carell and 10 questions people asked him.  Funny stuff!  Well I finished that and flipped the page and read another article with the headline, “Society: Drinking Do it With Your Kids, They won’t get tipsy if they toast with the folks”.  What kind of message is that sending?  Now Jimmy, you can’t drink on your own or with your friends or drink after that, but it ok to drink with mommy and daddy because we can monitor your alcohol.  What kind of Bullshit is that?  I remeber my parents having parties at home and of course we were not allowed to have drinks.  But we still snuck them when they weren’t around.  In the mean time my parents were working on forgetting their own names.  Now I am not saying I have bad parents, but were checking every now and then to see wht we were doing.  When they weren’t looking, that is when we struck!

So what is my point?  We have one side of the society saying kids should not be drinking and driving.  Then the other saying, it is ok for the kids to drink, but only with their parents.  Shouldn’t we be saying as a whole that kids should not be drinking period?  If we all look at the federal law, it says it pretty clearly, you must be 21 years of age to legally drink.  I am not saying that we can control underage drinking easily.  Hell, just look at me, it wasn’t to difficult in high school or my first two years at college, but I did drink before I was 21.  I just don’t think we should be putting it out there glorifying or saying it is ok to help your children drink, they will find other means of percuring the good stuff.
